COUNCIL MAJORITY THOUGHTS

brain waves

Probably not too far in the future we will see brain waves being read by computers. I am aware that some patience?’s with spinal cord injuries are being outfitted with skull caps that monitor the person's brain waves. In some cases they can will the keyboard to type the characters they are thinking about and in other cases they can control small muscles in the legs and other body parts through the use of this system.

Can we all imagine flat screen TVs hanging on the wall behind council chambers and their thoughts being transmitted via a skull cap and a computer?

Another point here is that we didn?’t hear anything from ?“see no evil?“, ?“hear no evil?” and ?“speak no evil?” during this debate. I don?’t believe we will ever get the correct funding with people trying to play city manager and service director and those that don?’t challenge those going over board with proposals on the record that allows the public to see just how inept they are.

This was a comic relief moment but it has hypocrisy written all over it with the council worrying about the interest paid on a pickup truck versus hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual repaving. What good is a newly paved road when you can?’t see it in the winter for all of the snow and ice build up on it?

Clearly council needs to focus on getting the funding they need instead of nit picking the annual budget. If they need to cut the budget assign the manager that duty and be done with it. They are not directly responsible for cleaning the roads in the winter or providing the police protection. That is why they hired a professional and it his duty to go over the budget with a fine tooth comb. They clearly demonstrated why they shouldn?’t be adjusting the budget themselves.
some questions from exchange

I have a few questions related to these postings.

1. I took a short cut last night and drove down the new part of Diley Road. I am not sure long that new road has been open but dose anyone know why it would have three or four chucks holes already. What will it look like in 10 years?

2. In the exchange between Mr. Fix and Mrs. Fersch it appears that the state gives back to the city a portion of the sales tax and gasoline tax.

That funding appears to fund the street department. Am I reading that right?

So the real question is does the city have an obligation to only spend that state money on the street department?

Or can they spend it on what they see fit?

Mr. Fix pointed out that the income tax only supports the $400,000 for the annual paving program (that needs to start with Diley road next year). Other wise the street department was self sustaining using the state revenue.

So went the newspaper says the city will cut back on snow plowing just how honest is that? Will it truly save them any money out of the income tax revenues? Or is this just another scare tactic?
Scare tactics

I'll let someone from council address your questions but scare tactics????

What are they trying to scare you about? They asked for more money, were flatly turned down and are now making decisions based on that turn down. I haven't heard about any return to the ballot so there are no scare tactics or any other implied threats I am reading anywhere.

Where are you getting this?
nothing happening

It is a scare tactic to try to make people believe that the city will not plow the streets until there is three inches of snow. What about two inches of ice? Will not plowing improve the general fund budget?

The council and the city have not made it very clear up to this point why they need the money. If they don?’t have the new money what will happen?
