I really enjoy reading the postings on this website. It can informative, as long as you remind yourself that some facts may be questionable as to the source. It's certainly entertaining, what's funnier than having a sitting City Councilman calling those posting here ''cowards'' and ''cock-roaches''? But what has never ceased to amaze me are those that are happy to toss out opinions but can't sign their name.
Here is what I think about the whole red light camera issues. I think that Pickerington needs this technology for two reasons...
1 - Law enforcement - it's just that simple. If you don't want a ticket, don't run a red light. This is not ''big brother'', this is just a tool to prove guilt in the comission of a crime.
2 - Revenue - So what if we make a few bucks from this technology? Who cares? I'm pretty sure that we all know that when caught speeding or parking illegally, we're going to have to pay a fine. We're in tough times, people. We need the money. The voters turned down a much needed income tax hike and now we're faced with the very real possibility of laying off essential city services.
I just do not see the problem with using this technolgy to not only enforce the law but also generate dollars. But of course this issue was beaten to death in and out of council chambers to the point where we all lost sight of the real issue.
