Pickerington Area Taxpayers Alliance

Mark in the Dark

Posted in: PATA
Tim Byrant, Mark Uher is asking you questions that he said he knew in mid October. Mr. Uher by his own postings said that PATA members supported Wes Monhollen. Yet today he is asking you who these members are? The reason he will never know is because he crashed our one and only public meeting in February 2000. At that meeting, Mr. Uher took it upon his self to call for Mrs. Carlier?’s resignation from the school board. That was partisan and we don?’t stand for that. Mark Uher?’s only role in life is a troublemaker and roadblock.

The PATA mission statement one more time:

?“To consult, review and make public comments on issues that affect Pickerington area taxpayers. To encourage and provide a forum for Pickerington area taxpayers to speak out.?”

This discussion page is one of those forums. The home page also publishes public documents that are of interest to all. Mark Uher ignores the fact the City of Pickerington and the Pickerington school district have hired at taxpayers expense ?“Communication Directors.?” They conveniently leave out important facts that are public record for all of us to make our public comments on. In other words, our public dollars are being spent to spin the truth back to us all.

He asks you if PATA is a non-partisan organization. We clearly disclaim any endorsement of any candidate or issue right on our home page. We are neither Republican nor Democrat. Mark Uher is not an IRS agent so he is not entitled to any financial information. Basically all those questions he asks are none of his business. PATA did not recruit candidates for office. Even if they had, there is nothing wrong with asking someone to run for office.

What everyone must look at is what Mark Uher rolled off the front screen of the discussion pages. What is Mark Uher trying to hide? Is his explanation of the poor showing of the Pickerington High School graduates in 4-year colleges? Is it all the windfalls that seem to come Daryl Barry?’s way? Does he really have an answer for all the apartments that will soon be zoned into the school district? If Mark Uher really cared about this school district and this community he would be asking more important questions than what and where PATA gets it?’s money and who do they talk too.

Hey Tim

I would also like to add that I appreciate the professionalism you are showing in trying to have a civil discourse with Uher. However, you are not dealing with a balanced individual any more. The sheer number of his continual postings show something is going on with his mental state. I intend to contact Mr. Yocum and Mrs. Sanders to discuss this with them before the next meeting of the school boundary committee.

I will explain that while Uher has not made any claims to represent PLSD, he certainly is closely associated with them. I feel that his current state might serve to place PLSD at risk by his association with them. I am not aware of whether or not any members from either the school board or the school administration read these pages, outside of Ms. Carlier, but it might be time they do. At least to see the downward spiral of Uher?’s obsession with this site and his compulsion to post continually. I hope that one of the mental health professionals on the school staff will take time to read his postings and make a recommendation to Mr. Yocum and Ms. Sanders as to his ability to continue in his present role on the school boundary committee. They might also reassess their association with him overall.
When Do Plan to Contact Them?

I will let both of them know that you plan to contact them before November 29's boundry committee meeting. Will you be calling them as anonymous too? Remember school is out Thursday and Friday of this week.

I wonder what the mental health professional you'll recommend would say about a person who trys to hide his or her identity on a public website. Is that person really balanced?

74.6% PHS Grads Attend College

You are so right. Here is the information about PHS graduates attending college, contrary to the 55% claimed by PATA's contact person, Bob Harding.

Officially, 74.59349% of the 492 graduates of Pickerington High School in June, 2001 are attending college following their senior year according to official records maintained at PHS. The counselors have a list of the colleges and the names of all 367 graduates attending college now.

In addition, according to a recent survey published in Columbus Monthly, Pickerington has one the highest rates of student graduates attending four-year colleges in the entire area. According to Columbus Monthly, Pickerington has a 90% rate. The difference between the 74.6% rate and the 90% rate can easily be explained by the fact that several Pickerington High School students start their college education later in the year or the year following high school after an extended trip to Europe or the completion of an internship with a local corporation.

In addition, PHS gradautes received over $5.4 million in scholarships.

I have not yet seem the information yet about Reynoldsburg, Groveport, Bexley, and Canal. Have you? Maybe you could make a call or two.

Maybe this information should go on PATA's home page since it seems to me it is far more important than Ed Laramee's personal problems with Pickerington Republican Club. Do you agree?
