Property owner?’s Rights

Pickerington City Government says Annexation is all about property Owner?’s rights. I agree. Then why are Joyce Bushman, Susan Crotty, and others knocking on doors asking people if they want to annex to Pickerington?
I understand John Donley had no interest in annexing until he was informed he would be taken one way or another. What would you do in his situation? Strike the best deal you can. I can not fault John for that. The 8185 property is an integral part of the Pickerington plan to get to Weiser and by adding the Sheridan Smith parcel; Pickerington could have hostily annexed John?’s property. I hear that Pickerington has several preannexation agreements with Property owners along Basil Western Road, (Kessler and Fee) between Amanda Northern and Hill Roads.
In looking at the big picture and documents from previous annexation attempts, Pickerington is positioning properties to hostily take some parcels to create a contiguous line to Weiser. This is in the Canal Winchester School District, and the land will be TIFed. I can not understand how the city of Pickerington can deny Canal Schools their fair tax dollars and turn around and give the money to the developer in the form of ?“infrastructure?”.
It is also rumored that Pickerington wants to move East to Allen Road. I know for a fact that some of the large parcel owners do not want to annex. I heard that some homeowners along Busey, East of Pickerington Road are talking about annexing. Again Pickerington appears to be positioning to do more hostile annexations.
If you have been approached by Pickerington about annexing, please leave a reply, anonymous is OK.

What if....

What if you are a land owner with a large parcel and you have been approached by Mrs. Bushman on more than one occasion asking you to be annexed? Do you have any recourse besides complaining about it here?
a possible way to inform

By your questions, do you mean to be stating that City Officials have been approaching you, the landowner?

This is contradictory to a great many times that multiple City of Pickerington Officials have repeatedly emphasized that it is the property owners who come to them with annexation requests. This has been included in newspaper articles, meeting minutes, etc.

By your posting are you stating that this is not the case in your situation? It was obviously not the case in this year?’s earlier attempt to hostile annex Ruth Pifer?’s lands. Now looking at the information as to current annexations you can see notations of another hostile annexation of Mr. Hiser?’s property.

As the Contact Person for PATA I have had numerous requests from some of the area newspapers to reach people who have been, as you described, ?“approached by a City Official?”, regarding annexation. I must emphasize that not all the papers show concern regarding this topic.

You may have an opportunity to garner more community support by exposing this revelation of who is approaching whom. I would be happy to place you in contact with the media people who have expressed a genuine desire to report accurately on this issue.

I can be reached at the PATA email (PICKERINGTONTAXPAYERS@HOTMAIL.COM) or phone # 755-2464.

gather support

There is a move afoot to gather support for the property owner (not the developer).
If you could see the maps I see, you could visualize the future moves that ''they'' are going to try to make. Boyer and Kessler will be ripe for a hostile as soon as 8185 is done. ''They'' just need a couple of property owners around the perimeter of Boyer and Kessler and ''they'' will be over to Allen Road.
I have talked to Bob and you can forward your name and phone and I will get in touch with you. I think I can give you some good strong contacts at all levels of government. Up to and including the County and State level. I am concerned for my neighbors. I have talked to many, and they are very afraid of what Pickerington can do to them. They just want to live in peace and harmony. I find it disgusting that Pickerington has given Weiser such a grand package to annex, and now they have to find a way to get to his land NO MATTER WHAT IT COSTS and WHOMEVER GETS RUN OVER.
I know of at least one group that is talking to people, who have been approached by Pickerington, in an effort to present a viable argument to the County Commissioners against these annexations. The future of many landowners is in jeopardy and action is needed NOW.
Any property owner in a potentially negative position who would like info can send an email to PATA and they will forward it to me. I will get in touch with you.
