Then do something about it.

Since you seem to be in the know on city matters and may be affliated with city staff either as friends or you are on the city staff, do something about it. The last thing the city needs is to look like they are hiding something by advertizing ''PUBLIC'' hearings in a newspaper which is not circulated widely in the community. we understand legal requirements of the ORC but if it serves the community in a better manner make the extra step. Maybe more openess would avoid the steep legal fees you face fighting your own citizens right to put issues on the ballot on one hand and then handing over $148,500 dollars to and organization the city manager heads to place annexation reform on the state ballot telling all of us it is in our best interest. Columbus only gave 20,000 to this cause! The other contributors who were not municipalities were developers and we all know that is who has the city ear.The citizens demand to be informed and you stonewall them with this Bullshit about the ORC and you hide behind the law as if it is the only thing you can do.

If you stop listening to Bushmanspeak for awhile, things may be less emotional and more practical and you will serve the true purpose of government.

Follow the law

I didn't realize citizens were supposed to hide behind the law, but follow it.

I think the suggestion by Mr. Shea is an excellent one, ''Anonymous 2.''

Why don't you submit your essay to this discussion area so we can all read who and what you're referring to with such intense anger.

City votes affect all

No, I don't live in the City of Pickerington, but I do consider myself a resident of Pickerington, mostly because I live within the Pickerington school district. I also contribute to the Pickerington economy by purchasing goods and services from many establishments within the city. And yes, I use the parks and pay the nonresident fees for parks & rec offerings. While some city officials believe they can ignore the outrage of non-city residents, don't they realize that their decisions (i.e., approving high density housing developments) affects anyone in the school district or township? We may not pay city income taxes, but we sure do pay additional taxes when the schools need more funding or buildings (because of the influx of students). And, we pay additional taxes when the fire department needs new equipment, personnel, stations, etc. (because of all the houses being built). The city is not an island - their actions certainly do impact non-city residents.
No I can't vote on city issues, but I'll do everything else I can (petitions, editorials, etc.) to make city officials act more responsibly for the good everyone that considers themselves a resident of Pickerington.
