Audit time

Posted in: PATA
I smell a rat and I want an audit.

Not a paper pushing B_ _ _ S_ _ _ audit to see if the columns line up nice and neatly, a real accounting for the issue of where and who allowed my tax dollar expenditures to mushroom.

Hey, knuckle heads wasting the paper and ink for what others are now calling ?“That?’s Weak in Picktown?” why don?’t you get out your calculator and tell us just how much money the City is now blowing on that Police Station too excess.

Let?’s just see your TWIP 7-11-2002 issue has the Finance Director crowing about the $4.3 million dollar Cop Shop expenditures. Your TWIP 10-31-2001 issue has the sub-headline ?“New $3 million police station will be on Refugee Road.?”

1. Do you do any homework?
2. Do you even read your own dribble?
3. Which staff members didn?’t pass the 4th grade math Proficiency Tests?

The location is STUPID and I think you owe it to your readers to inform the where, how, who, and when the extra $1.3 million dollars were decided. What form or ?“emergency?” or blowing smoke up our ?– you know where ?– was concocted on this ?“deal?”.

Since the 10-31-2001 article was ?“positioned?” just before the fall elections for various City Council candidates exactly what TRUTHS can now be concluded?

Remind me again, please, of the former sheriff?’s role on a total $300,000.00 alleged misuse of public funds. I?’ll do the multiplication for you. This is 4 times more money. The former sheriff is in prison and a ?“real?” audit helped get to the truth. It?’s audit time here in Picktown.

Charges Charges Charges

Have you been talking with the tax collector? Why do you continue to harass the little people? They just go to work and serve their community. You act like they are stealing Public funds while in office. This city is run in a professional manor. They are above board. What are you accusing them of? We demand to know.

Do the math and figure it out.

It appears to me that this individual is suggesting that there is an inflation in the cost of the Police Station of 1.3 million dollars and there has not been one dribble to the public, who is paying for this, about why the costs went up in such a LARGE manner.

I believe they are even suggesting that perhaps no legislation was reported in the newspapers that increased the cost of this project in this substantial manner. They appear to be asking if in fact... does legislation exist that authorized the cost increase of this magnitude.

Usually, the Southeast Messenger picks up on details such as significant increase in a project cost if the legislation is passed during a council meeting, or did this legislation occur at one of the hastily arranged ''special meetings that have been so frequent lately,'' meetings that are not well attended by the public or reporters.

Since TWIP will only print city dribble, maybe the SE Messenger will dig to the bottom of this one.

Oh puhleeeeze!

Professional manner? Above board? Little people? What town are YOU talking about? Certainly not Pickerington -- you know -- that once quaint island of political corruption and developer greed: filled with sub-division after sub-division, restaurant after restaurant, pharmacy after pharmacy, and ruled by a close-knit group of mini-Napoleons (all legends in their own minds, of course).
I'm with you, Money Doesn't Grow on Trees! Did you ever hear about he who doth protest too much? If there is nothing to hide, the city should WELCOME any and all scrutiny. BUT, let's get real here.
''They'' are so full of themselves and so high on the power they perceive themselves as having that eventually they will fall. With any luck, in-fighting, divided loyalties,ill-timed power plays, and one or two more shabby attempts at character assassination, should cause their little empire to collapse from within. The question is though, will it be in time to save Picktown? Only time will tell.
