Stop the slander
Dear Mr. Harding
I insist that you stop slandering poor Ms. Bushman. By referring to only the car detailing you make her look like a minor official instead of a professional sycophant who is really quite good at living high off the proverbial hog at the expense of the taxpayers. After all,the car detailing for her and Mr. Wiseman only cost $100.00 a car. Do you really expect poor Ms. Bushman to ride to the beauty parlor in a dirty car? Besides, the leather case that the taxpayers bought for the laptop computer shouldn't be exposed to dirt and grime. Let's not forget to add up the money that the city pays for various trips, business lunches, memberships in organizations, insurance reimbursements, car allowances (a mere $600.00 a month) or the $149,500.00 ( or more) that citizens doled out so Joyce could be in charge of the defeated referendum campaign. We demand that you give full credit to Joyce as someone who has turned living off the public into an art form. We are truly proud to represent someone who, with little or no talent, could convince a city of less than ten thousand souls into paying over one hundred thousand dollars a year for her ''services''. If rumors are to be believed, she also gets the side benefit of inside information on land deals which, if true, only enhances the esteeem we feel for this ''public servant''.
I really think that to put it into comparison you need to look at the money the taxpayers spent sending Chief Fuller and Robert Mapes to the International Police Chiefs convention in Toronto for six days and five nights. This was necessary because Interpol needed to confer with the police agencies and their legal counsel in London, New York, Hong Kong, Paris and Pickerington. Let's not forget that in addition to paying the law director his salary we also pay him to ''rent'' his office space and pay for his private office's supplies, telephones and secretarial staff. I guess no one ever considered maybe just building him an office at city hall. In addition, the city spend hundreds of thousand a year contracting with outside counsel to perform the job that it had presumably hired Mr. Mapes for in the first place. As you can see, although the record of Mr. Mapes is impressive in terms of his ability to live off the taxpayer for little or no work, Ms. Bushman is even better and she does not have the benefit of a law degree.
Quite frankly, Ms. Bushman demands respect. After all, you would not call Jesse James or Al Capone ''petty thiefs''.
