Pickerington Area Taxpayers Alliance

Since we have progressed into a brand new year I think it is time to consider our tasks again. Our Pickerington City Council has positioned itself to stay in power for years to come. They have protected Lou Postage and the two new cronies who ever they may be in the coming days. The only council members that the voters can now recall before July 2003 are Fox, Maxey, Wright and Parker.

I have put together a list of circulators willing to carry recall petitions to recall the above four council men. I only have 24 circulators and I am in need of more. I know some of you are waiting for the council to make their appointments. They are going to drag that out until they can?’t drag it out any longer and Lou Postage appoints the next council person. I am already getting rumors of deal making just to get appointed. They are going to get around issue 17 and they will try to make us all believe they have no other legal options. If you all still want another 3000 new homes in Pickerington please continue to sit and wait.

If any of you are willing please send a message to the Time_For_Change list and we can get on with this recall. We have been doing a few petitions in neighborhoods just to see how well it will be received. We have had very few rejections and most would vote to recall if the election was tomorrow. Out of 52 attempts made at front doors we have received positive responses for of at least 46 of all the above listed councilmen. Maxey doesn?’t have prayer. Fox is a close second.

How much longer do we all endure this total disregard for the citizens of Pickerington? Our council is and never was going to listen to its citizens. It is time to end our pain. It is time for a recall. To hell with looking for candidate replacements, to hell with worrying about next years council elections, it is time to clean house.

And then...

After the recall election occurs then what? Won't the remaining elected officials appoint for the open seats? If so hasn't a whole lot of effort been expelled for zero benefit?

Or is there a special election in which new candidates will need to register with the Board of Elections and the people will actually get to vote?

Why is Lou exempt? When he became mayor was that an appointment or is there something in the charter that protects him for 6 months like the other appointees?

... your optimism but do you know the answers to my prior questions? I'm willing to help take petitions around and freeze off my hiney if I know what happens next.

However, if the members of council who aren't removed get to appoint to the vacant seats then I'm going to have to pass this time since they will most likely just appoint back the same council members we just worked so hard to remove.
