Wasteful use of PTO money
I sent this email to the board and adminstration.
Dear School Board and Administration, (Mr. Baker would you please pass this on)
I would like to ask you to contact the levy campaign personnel and ask them to please clean up the right of way areas in our school district of the levy signs except for a few tasteful placements. The manner of placement of these signs is extremely offensive, especially on the off ramp to SR 204 from I-70, it is literally a wall of signs and they also placed them on ODOT traffic control structures which I believe is illegal! I can understand a few signs in the right of way and I think this is expected, but they are literally papering (littering) the right of way and this appears extremely wasteful. It looks like nobody wants them in their yards so we will waste them in front of schools and all along the roads!
This is especially offensive to me as the levy committee always request funding from our PTO's on a regular basis, healthy funding, which is almost always given, often reluctantly, because many people really believe the PTO money should go directly to benefiting the children and the levy campaign money, although ultimately benefiting the children, does not put goods directly in the classrooms or buildings. This campaign money could and probably should be raised in another way. The wasteful placement of these signs at $2.50 each, adds up to books and computers that our kids could be utilizing instead if the PTO money was not directed here.
Please pass this on to whomever will consider my views and possibly take action. Thank you for your attention to this issue.
Sincerely,
Lisa Ross
