Bill Wright the slight of hand magician ?“now?” wants to --- what did he exactly say in the latest SE Messenger, ?“put Violet Township, the village of Canal Winchester, and the City of Pickerington on a level playing field when it comes to development?”. He wants to propose picking up the growth summit meetings where they left off.
O.K. Bill lets hear you level the playing field.
Are you going to support, financially contribute, campaign for, co-sponsor the legislation, actually second any of Shaver?’s reasonable motions and change your spots to stop this endless sea of emergencys that aren?’t really emergency ordinances? The village doesn?’t use these tricks, the township can?’t ?– so is that part of your solution to level the playing field?
Are you going to throw your weight into settling all the lawsuits that you have been a party to creating?
Are you going to cease and then overturn all the zonings and annexations that you have been voting for too?
Are you going to tell your campaign contributing developer buddy?’s, their attorney?’s, their surveyors & engineers that they can stop buying this council's decisions?
Are you going to demand that all the plot plans that you have voted for be put off for a decade?
Are you going to straighten out the traffic mess that you?’ve helped create?
Bill your work is cut out for you cause the magic of doing all this damage and then saying that you want to meet is nothing more than the usual card up the sleeve while thrusting the knife in the backs of the citizens of this community
By not buying it!

Stop It Before It Starts!
Dear Not Buying It,
The best way to stop all of the unnecessary and expensive (to you and the rest of the residents) is to stop annexation before it is annexed. The way the program starts is that your city council must decide what they want and why they want to bring that parcel into your city limits. After voting to do so, it is then sent to the Fairfield County Commissioners office for approval. AHA!!! That is where I want to stop it. Any annexation that is considered a burden to the population of the City of Pickerington should be disapproved. With documented proof that it costs approximately 33% more than is take in by fees to handle all of the new utilities that are provided to the developers, even when they are not given free tap in rights should be considered a burden. It is a burden when considering that there is not currently enough class rooms available for the current population of Pickerington and would also overburden the already over extended police and fire departments. The new annexation would require new school bond issues and operating issues which would force an additional burden of personal property taxes to be levied against the citizens of Pickerington. Any such approval coming from the county commissioners office once I am elected would be considered unethical and totally unforgiven based upon the desire of the population. I have come to this conclusion because I personally beleive that development cannot be stopped but it can be CONTROLLED!!! I want to work for you to be sure that any development started in Fairfield County is approved with the developer paying upfront a fair and equal fee to the schools, police and fire departments for adequate schooling and protection for the new residents and their children. Believe me, there are quality developers out there that are willing to pay the additional fee because it doesn't cost them a penny. The responsible developer will add the fee to his finished price and the end user pays for it over 30 years. This plan is good because this is a fixed price to pay for a home and the personal property taxes should remain approximately the same for the balance of the loan dependent on inflation and other problems associated by the state legislature. Please remember my name when November 5th comes, I want to work for you!

Check them out first!
Mr. Noll,
The problem is not annexation in itself. In fact, there could be some real advantages in annexing into a City from a Township. Decision making on the part of a city council when it comes to allowing businesses to operate in the city becomes an important point. Violet Township is a statue Township. Note the business park at Canal Pointe. Canal has a village council. The council can make decisions that would require COUNTY approval if the same business was developed in the Township.
The problem we have here in Pickerington and Violet Township is that Pickerington has an insane annexation policy of annexing everything and placing only homes on these annexed lands. Residential development is a loser when it comes to taxes received versus expenses paid by the residents. Commercial property does bring in more taxes than the residents paid in expenses. The city signs affidavits stating the services that they can provide to this annexed land. Those statements have been not true. The County Commissioners have refused to question these ordinances of service for a long time now and there is documented evidence they are not true.
I think Canal Winchester has annexed hundreds of acres over the last year or so and I haven?’t heard very much in opposition from the Township residents. The reason is that Canal shared their revenue gains with the Township. They signed agreements with that Township and the are living up to their agreements. Pickerington on the other hand has breeched its water and sewer contract with Canal about a year ago. It has walked out of the sewer negotiations with the county.
Clearly what has Pickerington Residents upset is that the Pickerington City Government has annexed township land to help their select group of developers while ignoring the vast majority of the voters and taxpayers of this city, township, and school district.
If you do get elected please scrutinize every document and ask for proof of their claims. If you have questions call others that post on this web site for the opposition?’s view point. Many are listed in the phone book. If Pickerington signs an agreement with the commissioners make sure you include penalties for them if they breech their agreement with the county, because with the current leadership here they will surly come to that point of not up holding their half of the bargain.
