I hope this meets your grammatical standards....

It would appear that the recall effort has ground to a screeching halt. Rumors to its demise are twofold. First, as stated in the press, the spokesperson (potential council candidate in 2003??) has stated that they have adopted a ?“wait and see?” posture. Wait and see who will be appointed to the current vacant seats. If ?“they?” don?’t appoint one of ?“us?” then we will recall. If ?“they?” appoint one of ?“them?” they will have shown once and for all their disdain for the wishes of the vast majority of the voters of Pickerington and the citizens will revolt. Well guess what Mr. Spokesperson/candidate, they have a plan. Neither you, nor 16 of the 17 candidates being interviewed for the seats are a consideration. Don?’t you think that the powers had a plan the moment they knew that Hughes and Monebrake were taking a walk? The interviews, just like last time, are just a formality to keep up appearances.

Secondly, the recall effort has ceased to be because the effort has turned into nothing more than other efforts to make a positive change in this community have. Their meetings, correspondence, initiatives have turned into just another bash Pickerington session. Over and over again, when this well-intentioned group of people get together, the focus of the meeting is moved to complaints and hate mongering of the city government. They have failed to realize the least common denominator in this trend. There is a small group among this coalition who have nothing better to do than complain. They are very vocal and can easily monopolize any conversation or meeting. They tell the same tales over and over again. Every call to action attempted by committees, new clubs and the like suffer the same fate. They all turn into another Pickerington bi+ch session. Also, the same leadership in these common efforts prevails. Does the leadership have anything other than their own political ambitions at heart? It doesn?’t appear so.

You want to make a difference? Change leadership, leave the political self-serving self-appointed leadership behind and get on with it. Take out the opportunities in your meetings for the conversation and direction to be hijacked by the same old complainers singing the same old songs.

Act or react ?– the choice is yours. But I can tell you for certain that the people running this city are not sitting idly by and reacting. You bloodied their noses in November and they will not let that happen again. They will appoint from their own fold in contempt of the apparent desires of the voters. They will get back to business as usual as soon as they fill the seats.

Referendums of the choices, recalls, complaints?…. Time is on their side, not yours.

Are you Volunteering to help ???

While you certainly express yourself in a manner that would suit Webster better than the previously refered to letter writer.

Are you offering to help ?? A fundraising effort is underway to support the referenda effort that will soon take on another dimension.

People want positive change & are committed to finding it. Are you ?? Do you want to help to facilitate it ?? Our community can be put on track it will take families, one at a time, saying this is enough.
I have in the past

Lisa,

As much as I admire you and your efforts to date, and as much as I feel I could personally learn and grow working on something with you, I hoped I had made my point in the last posting. There is a core group always present in these initiatives that can derail all of the efforts with their all talk and no action approach. I don?’t have to name names for you. I have seen you with them at meetings. While a meeting might start out on track, have a purpose and intent, might have an agenda and at the outset appears to have leadership, it soon spirals downward into conversations on how Council screws us and how they are evil and so on. We are all aware of Council?’s actions and its effects on the whole community. We also all share a common opinion of each and every person elected by or in the employ of the citizens of this community. Why do we need to spend so much time and energy rehashing it?

Don?’t get me wrong ?– this core group is made up of very knowledgeable and dedicated people who actually do have the community?’s best interest at heart. They do want to see changes and they will most assuredly support people who can attain office that will make a change. They are some of the people who answer your call to speak out at Council meetings and write letters. Lisa, these are good people and I am not attacking them. It is just when it is time to act instead of talk, they still continue talking. Meetings can drone on for hours with no appreciable outcome or results because of talk.

I would happily join your efforts or CARE?’s efforts or whoever shows evidence of action instead of talk. But you know and I know that most or all of this core group will be right there talking. You can?’t get rid of them, nor should you. However if I could offer a piece of advice ?– try working that core group into a role where their talents can best be utilized. Perhaps they can venture out into the community and talk at civic association meetings, senior center meetings and so on.

I don?’t see a lot of gain at keeping my part of this discussion thread going as I don?’t want to say something to make you mad because you need to remain focused on the tasks you have undertaken rather than the foolish ramblings of an old fool like me.

Good luck. Pickerington is fortunate to have you.
