Funding for School Levy Campaign

I am a bit puzzled by the PATA?’s webmaster posting in home pages the financial information about the funding sources for Pickerington for Kids Committee from 2002. What was your motivation in posting this ?‘old information?’ three days before the May 6th levy?

This information is old news. It has been reported in every newspaper last October with correct information. Why did PATA choose to post the old information right before we vote on Issue 7? Don?’t you think it would be more helpful to voters and taxpayers to post the FY 04 PLSD approved-budget by line item or the 4-pages of extracurricular activities costs for FY 04 and cost per participant or the plan to raise $700,000 in participation fees to provide relief to the taxpayers or even the actual contributions and the source?

In addition, I think the PATA webmaster completely missed one important elements of the fund raising strategy employed last summer and fall to raise money for the levy campaign. As the fund raising chairman for the levy campaign, we sought a $2000 contribution from every home builder in the 2003 Pickerington Parade of Homes. I think it would be more helpful to the taxpayers and the issues advocated by the PATA group if you would list all the home builders in the parade and then list who cared enough about our community to contribute to the levy campaign.

The real story is not who contributed but who did not. Please note the developer of the parade (William Fannin) did not contribute a dime to help our community even though repeated telephone calls were made to him.

PATA webmaster ?– please consider modifying your old information on your home page and list all contributors and dollar amounts --- and list all Parade of Homes builders and each contributions to the levy campaign. In addition, please post prior to the election the entire FY 04 PLSD budget by line item and the four pages of extracurricular activities for FY 04 and their cost per activity. That would be invaluable to the voters and the taxpayers. Right? Thanks!
Thanks Mark

Mark,

Your message explained it clearly, at least for me.

The developers are HUGE contributors (minus Fannin) to levy campaigns in our school district.

I wonder what drives the developers to contribute so heavily. Is it to increase the tax burden to the people they are building for? I wonder if the people buying, realize what they are buying into.

Thanks for the insight.

Thanks Sport

Thanks Sport for again ragaling us with just how important SPORTS are to Pickerington acedemics. We all feel just like you that education be damned! As long as we can play ball! Also Sport, thanks for putting one or two less signs out to cover the landscape. I got sick of looking at all the new flowers out and people's landscapes. The signs are much more colorful.

One thing is for sure Sport, you are truly one dimensional. There is nothing more impressive than a one track mind. Hope you enjoy your $1,500,000 concession stand at the Taj Mahal SPORTS entertainment complex. From a $1,500,000 concession stand I hope I can get my prime rib extra rare.

How about steak and lobster with china and a vintage wine. With that fare you can perhaps entice the World Champion Ohio State Buckeyes to play one of their pre-season games at your place. I mean for nearly $8,000,000 total for your SPORTS entertainment complex you might even get the Bengals to stop by for a game or two.
