Thank The Board Majority
Thank you for the praise about the levy funding and ?‘Monhollen?’s Taj Mahal?’.
However, the praise should be really directed to the board majority - Monhollen, Oakes & Rigelman - who approved the purchase orders for the $1.5 million concession stand/storage/gate office. THEY could have saved the taxpayers over $5,000,000 and refunded our tax dollars. THEY approve the expensive wood paneling throughout the stadium?’s press box, 12 huge brass chandeliers and ?‘New Albany-style?’ green outdoor lighting at the junior high, silver-black-purple seats on the home side in the stadium, a baseball complex rivaling OSU?’s; $560,000 in landscaping; a ?‘corporate headquarters?’ reception desk in the high school; expensive, hand-crafted mosaic tile in the serving line in the cafeteria; diamond-designed railing in the performing arts center; and Ethan Allen furniture in the high school media center. With all due respect, I would have preferred less opulent facilities and a refund on my property tax bill.
Sorry, I had nothing to do with the purchase orders. And, you will find that my name will not appear on the solid gold dedication plaque at the facilities. However, on the solid gold plaque will be the names of the board president and vice presidents so decades from now we will all know who to thank for these opulent facilities.
I can picture the setting now if the levy fails again. From the plush press box above the home silver-black-purple bleachers with the baseball complex in the background and the beautiful porch & lighting for the junior high in the foreground, Monhollen, Oakes & Rigelman tell reporters we are broke, have no money for extracurricular activities and then blame the whole situation on the corrupt public officials.
That will make national news!
