Save $61,227.28 in Busing


The above posting suggested eliminating the taxpayers' cost of busing for extracurricular activities.

In the FY 04 budget, for all extracurricular activities for 4867 student opportunities, the total taxpayer cost for transportation was $61,227.28.

And, that cost was removed from the budget, will not be included in the fee schedule, and will be passed on to the user by another means.

Sorry, however, that does help solve the kindergarten problem. However, eliminating 12 empty bus at a savings of $490,000 as recommended last October by the Auditor of State just may help.

Do I wish I had the fight in me.

I just found out my 3 yr old is likely autistic and just don't have the fight in me with the schools so we have chosen instead to use the OHVA with the K12 curriculum to make the most out of the kinder year with our 5 yr old daughter. I wonder how much is going to be accomplished with the every other day, all day, and 1/2 day friday. I'm worried afternoons will become video time, quiet time, or something like that and quite honestly, we can do that at home. Then there is the issue of consistency. I know I'm not alone in pulling my child out. A couple others I know have chosen the private kinder route for this year.
If it goes 1/2 day, we will register again, but for now kinder will be done at home and we'll rethink when we are done with the year. Who knows, we may have a blast and continue;-)
I'd love to see an update on here after the meeting to get your impression.
