Forgive me, folks, for trying to have a little fun at MU's expense. Every now and then the temptation overwhelms me. MU is, as comedians like to say, a target-rich enviroment. The men in black stuff is priceless.
I measure my success at rattling MU by the number of postings I provoke him to make. I once got him so overwrought that, as I recall, he punched the send key six times in sending his response. I guess I have succeeded this time beyond my wildest expectations.
However, I also had a serious purpose. I have it on good authority that MU will seek election to the school board in November. These must be the opening salvos in his election campaign, if you can call it that. Today's harvest of postings should make it clear to everyone why we must never allow that to happen. Can we entrust our children to such a hateful person? Can we give this rank polluter of public discourse a platform?
I need your help. I am not asking for myself. As I am sure most of you know, I decided many months ago, for health and other reasons, not to seek reelection. I am asking for our community. Two good, fiscally responsible and community-minded candidates need to step forward, and they need to do so now. The past twelve hours of postings on this website should be all the inspiration anyone needs.
We have to turn this community around this November, as much on the school board as in city hall. Being on the school board takes a thick skin and a strong stomach and, quite frankly, it's no fun. But someone has to do it if we and our children are to have a decent place to live.
