Help me out here folks -- At one of the polls today there were three children of teachers checking who had voted against a list of 'preferred voters' which appeared to be parents of children in the schools. Where did that list of parents come from? Is that not 'political activity' which is prohibited within a poll?
Any thoughts....

ANOTHER QUESTION
WHAT YOU SAW SOUNDS LIKE POLITICAL ACTIVITY, BUT DONT KNOW FOR SURE. I WANT TO KNOW IF THEY DO RECOUNTS--IT ONLY PASSED BY 59 VOTES---JUST A LITTLE MORE THAN THE NEW SCHOOL LEVY THAT PASSED SEVERAL YEARS AGO--DO THEY HAVE TO COUNT THE ABSENTIZE BALLOTS----NO MATTER HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!

No Political Activity
It is legal to check at a polling place who has voted already against a list of supporters. In fact, it is frequently done each election by both political parties. For verification, please contact the Fairfield Board of Elections.
I know for a fact that my 18-year old son went into our polling place with two other friends (none of which had any relative on the PLSD payroll), and after they all voted reviewed the list of 18-year old voters who had not voted yet as of 5:00 p.m. They wrote their names down and called them on their cellphones outside the polling place. They picked up an additional six friends and brought them to the polls to vote. In addition, they called several other friends to do the same thing.
Many of them gathered last night at the house and celebrated making a difference in our democracy. And, I believe these young voters learned an important lesson about voting. Your vote and voice does count at the ballot box.

INFORMED VOTERS???
Mark,
I am all for first time voters. I have voted every year since I was 18 myself, but being informed of the issues is a responsibility of the voter. I wonder if theses young adults understood both sides of the issue? If their personal desires were more important than the good of the community as a whole.
I hope they clearly understood that this 5 year levy will only support the schools for 2 or maybe 3 years at best. That many of those in this community on fixed incomes and under financial pressure will have a hard time paying this extra tax. That builders now see the pressure removed and building will continue at an abnormal rate.
Traffic issues will become worse. New Bond issues will be needed for more buildings in the future.
The cost to this community will be more than just dollars. But there will be sports and I believe that may have influenced a lot of voters. But, I don't think that this will affect your son or friends once they leave for college and since they do not own homes, this vote cost them nothing. I think this strategy of delivering voters happened last year during our national elections. One party was accused of delivering homeless and disabled voters to vote. They were getting a free lunch out of the deal. I guess that could be considered as informed.
