The next DMHS meeting is Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 6 - 7:45 p.m. at the Iowa Genealogical Society, 624 E. Grand. The program is: Notable of Des Moines, about famous people who have lived in DM. This is not the well-known stories, you will be surprised!
The photo at the left is from the June 14, 2010 ceremony commemorating the centennial of laying the cornerstone at the Des Moines Municipal Building (City Hall). More photos are available on the DMHS Facebook page.
The DES MOINES HISTORICAL SOCIETY is varying meeting places, dates and times right now so as many as possible may attend and locations with no, or low cost are difficult to find.
