Palisades Point Neighborhood Association was officially created on February 28, 2000 by combining the two neighborhoods of Palisades Phase II and Kingspoint. The purpose behind creating an official association was to apply for funds through the Neighborhood Enhancement Matching Grant Program and to have a larger voice in matters that effect the residents of the neighborhood. The area is bounded by McCoy Rd on the east, Old Denton on the west, Frankford to the north, and the Greenbelt on the south. The area contains 366 homes with approximately 10% of the residents being dues paying members. The neighborhood borders a church, shopping center, and Rainwater Elementary School. Dues are currently $35.00 per household per year.
Goals of the association are membership, neighborhood beautification, and communication. The association recently worked with the city to repair defective sidewalks that were a hazard to the school children walking along McCoy and to replace missing fence caps along Old Denton Road. PPNA communicates through it’s web site at www.neighborhoodlink.com/carrollton/palisades, a periodic newsletter, and through an email distribution list.
Meetings are twice a year as stated in the by-laws, with officer terms running for two years. In addition to president, secretary, and treasurer, there are two vice-presidents: one from the Palisades side, the other from the Kingspoint side of the area. Five board members are also elected and preside over association committees.
