It came to our attention we are not the only ones having problems with breakins.
Up the hill in the westside area there have been similar occurences.
Only some of the breakins there have escalated into people breaking in while people ARE home. In one instance a house with 3 female room mates sleeping had someone break in and burgal their place in another a woman was in her kitchen. In two others the residents tried to fight off the burgaler(s). Some of these happen in the morning but seem to be happening anytime.
In a northside neighborhood not to far from us there have been over 40 such breakins.
This is happening all over so it may be a ring of thieves or a mixed group of differnent thieves traveling around, or possibly someone from the area who knows peoples daily patterns.
A hodge podge of things are usually taken. Some instances food is taken from the refrigerator along with smaller items as cd's, jewelry, etc.
One thing that seems to be similar observant residents have noticed in some areas is suspicious cars parked in their neighborhood with people in them just sitting there. Sometimes coming back a few times. Or cars crusing thru the neighborhoods.
This along with the car break-ins is very disturbing. It does not seem isolated just to our area either.
We hope to do a Crime Alert Flyer but with the colder weather it may be hard to get anyone to deliver them door to door. Any Volunteers??? Please email us or post here with contact info.
We'll also be contacting Third District Captain to see if they plan on doing some kind of bulletin. They will sometimes do these if there is a pattern of problems.
So KEEP YOUR DOORS LOCKED, BE SURE THEY ARE SECURE-you can get a bar that props against your door to re enforce it, it is portable and easily removed.
Be observant, watch for suspicious things and report them. Do the buddy system with your neighbors if you know them and trust them-let them know when you will be away and vice versa.
Any other reasonable suggestions would be appreciated. Reasonable, not grease up your firearms, etc. That kind of chatter could lose us our website sponsorship. But it is hunting season ins't it???! Just KIDDING!
