Ice Cream Man

Posted in: Parkwood Ranch
I have issues with the ice cream man! I get a little perturbed when he shows up at dinner time or after dark. But what really ticks me off is the fact that he is selling more than ice cream. I am not begrudging the man a living, but toy guns? I'm not talking six shooters here either. Granted my 7 year old had the holsters, cowboy hat and six shooters and even a rifle. But the guns my son (age 7) has purchased resemble (all too realisticly) a Sat. Night Special and an 9mm. I have forbidden my son from purchasing anything but ice cream from this person. I don't have a problem with responsible gun ownership, I am not against owning guns. But geeze, is this kind of item necessary?
Diamond Ave problems

I agree that the ice cream man is a problem. The issue was brought up by someone at the Diamond Ave meeting but if we are going to accomplish anything we all as neighbors need to get together and get involved not just a few of us.
Taking action on ice cream man

Buying toy guns is something that should be done under the supervision of approving parents who can explain how they should be used. What, if anything has been done about this situation? I would me more than happy to work on it some but I don't want to repeat what others have done. Do we know if this is a common thing or if our ice-cream man is unique? I think a notice in the neighborhood newspaper is certainly in order, perhaps followed by a meeting to plan a course of action?
