Answer to Questions 1, 2, & 3
#1: It will take the members of this community to actively participate in the Association. I've spoken to some of the long time residents of the area and although they welcome the idea of having a community wide event held on one of the residential streets; most of the new residents aren't willing to sign the necessary petition to close any of the seven streets within the area.
#2: The tension question has not been discussed in any of the meetings because the subject has not been raised. No to mention, participation is very low.
#3: Speed bumps - To have speed humps installed on the streets within the community requires signing a petition. We have submitted the petition for speed humps for Meadowbrook Ave (last year) it's a matter of LADOT starting the survey (counting the number of cars and their speeds traveling on the street). Again, many of the residents do not want to sign the petition to start the process. However, with the Mayor's impeding ''Olympic West - Pico East'' Initiative, this may be a great time or a bad time for LADOT to consider installing speed humps throughout the neighborhood. If the Mayor's is allowed to go through with his Initiative, ''Olympic West - Pico East'' speeding and cross through traffic will only increase! Talk to your neighbors about signing a petition to stop the Mayor's initiative and about speed humps. To read more about the Olympic West - Pico East Initiave, it's posted on our website. Also, click on the link to sign an electronic copy of the petition.
I'll be in the neighborhood Saturday, December 1, 2007 asking residents to sign the hard copy of the petition and I'll have the petition for the speed humps.
