Today, I spoke with a supervisor in Caltrans about planting flowers along Regent Street and he said it was ok. He knew of our effort. He told me that a contract had been let to revamp and landscape the area, but not now. I asked him about his office being called and asked to spray. He said if they were called, they would not do it. The supervisor hinted that water maybe installed. If so, that will be great, we will not have to depend on mother nature.

Freeway planting

On March 17 I sent in the formal application to ''Adopt-A-Highway'' for wildflower planting along Regent. Four weeks later, I haven't received a response or heard anything. If approved, we shouldn't have to worry about any future herbicide spraying. I'll also ask if I can get an key for you to have access also.

Adoption decision

I got a call on my answering machine yesterday informing me that Caltrans rejected the formal adoption application due to construction pending. It might be the landscaping project you mentioned previously. He suggested trying to adopt a section of the 405 fwy (that's not going to happen). I'm going to call back later this morning to find out more. I'll keep you posted.
