Ocelots are mostly in south Texas-- believe it or not, they are somewhat domesticable. Salvadore Dali had one for years.
I know of a jewelry merchant who kept one as a pet and on one of his trips to New York left it in the hotel room while he went to eat. He came back to find the thing stretched out on the bed like a big house cat next to a bag with a bunch of diamonds but with an interesting twist. A youngster who came into his room to rob the merchant was standing on top of a dresser shaking like a leaf from fear ot the "T-T-T- Tiger" being turned loose on him.
There is a group of bobcats on Eastchase that have lost their fear of humans and supposedly walked up to a fellow who was walking to get a closer look at him before spraying a tree.There are reports of Jaguars working their way north toward Bexar county but so far all the information is sketchy.
What we really need to worry about are the Chupacabras being driven out of the creek bottoms because of the construction of the new apartments on Texas Highway 10.
