The cats haven't been eaten because the Coyotes arent hungry yet.  they sit in Packs at night behind my house and have for 9 years, I have three small dogs and they have never been bothered.  I am sorry about your dog as well, I can't imagine..but they were here before we were, along with the rats and raccoons and snakes(I had a 5 foot cotton mouth on my back fence, and a 5 foot rat snake in my garage) it comes with the territory.  I contacted Tx parks and wildlife 3 years ago as there was a Feral dog that roamed during the day, he was never aggressive I don't know where he went, the others were determined to be Pure Bred Coyotes(could have changed but I doubt it).  Regardless of what, why, where, when or how, they are going to get more agressive because they will feel trapped and cornered because we are encroaching on there space, it's nature(hit on the side of the road is not).  They need to be re-located not killed.

Part of the charm of building here for us was that it was sort of isolated and had some neat wildlife. We have coyote paw prints in the cement our driveway and sidewalk. I hate to hear of any pet being harmed by the wildlife. I can't imagine losing my dog, we treat her like our four legged kid.

With the economy being so bad and all the foreclosures. I can't understand why they are building more homes in this area. It's nuts.
