Good Morning Rivertrails Neighborhood,
Please forgive me as I write this as I do not want to offend anyone. It is obvious that the active members of this discussion are very passionate about protecting our neighborhood and I applaud you for that.
I have lived in Rivertrails, off of Salado, for a year now and have not been very active within our neighborhood. I am single and do not have a family. I own my home (well at least making payments). I am not a member of the HOA, and do not plan on becoming a member, because I feel that HOA are a waste of time and effort.
We can sit around and complain about the HOA and the problems in the neighborhood or we can start taking a proactive approach to the problems. Since I am not a member of the HOA, I do not expect them to take care of my problems. In fact, It is each one of us as caring members of the community that must be proactive in our own way. You know, I only know two of my neighbors.
What I do know is that we as individuals must form one voice and look out for each other. That is why I am writing this today. Regardless of what you feel about the HOA, it is our own responsibility to look out for the best interest of the neighborhood.
This is what I would like to propose and see if there is any interest. Again, I know many of you are very passionate about the neighborhood and would like to see it be a safe and caring community. I would like to see a "meet and greet your neighbor" night. Where we can come together for a meeting to get to know each other. Also, I would like to see a neighborhood watch association. I know about the COPS program, but obviously it is not effective for our community.
I am willing to put the time and effort forward to organize these events with the help of the HOA and others in the community that share the passion as I do.
Is there a general interest?
Thank you so much for your caring and passionate approach to these issues, I hope we can focus our attention on fixing the problem rather than complaining about it.
Take care,
