Candy-O, no wisdom here! I know you may not agree with some of the things I say but for me personally the HOA has not done much but for our neighborhood my annual $25.00 goes towards events that do bring the neighbors together. My kids are older now so the Easter egg hunt wouldn't interest them but if mine were young, they would love it and I am sure the little ones in the neighborhood do! I am glad that the HOA has this event. I also like how yards are voted on, Christmas Lights, Halloween decorations - etc. This helps makes us a community. Also, I am sure some of the money is spent on making the entrances into our neighborhood nice. I would also like to think that if my minimal $25.00 helps to put batteries in the flash lights of those who volunteer in our neighborhood COP program, then it is well worth the money. I do not have a lot of time to volunteer myself so in a way by paying my HOA fees, I feel I am contributing. We are lucky we are living in this neighborhood. We have a nice elementary school, nice park and wonderful neighbors. Now we just need to work on getting the crime out of here! By the way, I am sorry for not getting back to you on your fence. Do you still need volunteers to come over and help clean up in the back of it? Now would probably be a good time before it gets too hot and the snakes come crawling out! Let me know. I mentioned it to my neighbors before and they would like to help too.
