On Sunday 01-15-2012 at around 7:30pm - I was in my vehicle at the corner of Thames trl and Saranac trl when someone shot a BB gun and shattered my window. I contacted the Police and wanted to alert our good neighbors of this incident.

our neighborhood Police Officer R.E. Williams was out today with a fellow officer ,passing out flyers re recent crime on Saranac Trl. . Parents please be aware of where your children are .,just because they tell you  where they are going doesn,t mean thats where they are. It starts with good parenting at home. You think you know but in real life you obviousley dont. there are a total of 8 to 20 boys at that same corner nightly.I can name 6 of these children, there ages are from4 yr. old to17 yr. old ,by law you are responsabel for their actions. Please come out of your homes at night,and check on your kids. I promise bad things happen when you have a gang of girls or boys hanging out on street corners, with nothing else to do ,things happen all it takes is one to say lets do, I dare you to do it,remember those days? Bad things happen to good kids, they only have to be there when it happens .,lives can and have been ruined by one foolish act.

Check with our NPO (Ofc Williams).  There is a curfew that can be enforced by the police non-emergency number (do not call 911 for curfew complaints unless there is a crime such as vandalization, or worse, in progress).  During the evening before curfew, there might be a rule against too many assembled in one location, but I'm not sure.  When in doubt, call Ft Worth PD non-emergency and they will look into it.

I will also add that our NPO and FWPD are aware of the BB/pellet gun incidents and are looking into it.  It is a crime to shoot at something and/or someone with a BB gun, it is still considered a firearm and can mean jail time, even if someone is just playing around.  If you are a parent reading this and your child has one of these guns, please be sure they are clear that they are not toys, and must be treated with the same care as a firearm that uses ammunition.
