Well that makes since. Endanger everyone's safety so you can keep your driveway clean.
I go extra slow around that corner and there are still time I have to swerve to miss another car or someone walking on the road.
I know that since our streets are public roads, there is nothing the Board will do and I do not see the police doing anything about it either. I will however, try. I have a contact at the Greer Police department that I will address this issue with and let everyone know the results. Steven |

I know that the board said they would talk to the home owner, so we can assume that they did not. Has anyone else contacted this home owner about this? If not we should start there. Just to give them the benefit of the doubt that they do not know what a hazard they are causing by parking in the street, with an empty drive way. |

I received your complaint from Lt. Varner. We are constantly addressing this same concern in all neighborhoods. I have attached a handout that details the state law on parking in the roadway. It specifically prohibits parking in the road if there is the ability to park in a parking space or driveway. We don't actively seek out improper parking in neighborhoods due to the enormous amount of manpower that would take. We leave that up to homeowner's covenants. However we do actively enforce Handicap, Fire Zone violations or parking that presents a hazard. This situation might fall in the hazard category but we would like you to address this from a homeowner's association concern if parking violations are listed in your covenant. Feel free to pass the attachment to your homeowner and if they refuse to comply then let me know and enforcement is a tool we can use to gain compliance. If parking is not addressed in your covenant then we can speak to the problem resident for you. Also if parking is not mentioned in your covenant then maybe that should be addressed at a neighborhood meeting. Feel free to correspond with me if you have any concerns or questions.
He did give me a document that address this issue. I feel we should first make sure some one as actually talk to them before the Police get sent out as this is a $240 fine. Steven |
