My Apologies
First of all, looking at the number of replies on this issue, it is good that I live in an area where residents voice their opinions for the betterment of their neighborhood.
I spoke to one of the district fire chiefs and he commented that there are speed bumps and speed humps. Speed humps, which are the ones recently installed on Alexa Place, have several indentations that are measured precisely to the dimensions of a fire truck. Therefore, a fire truck and other emergency vehicles are able to run over speed humps by running through these indentations without reducing speed. This put my concerns to rest. Speed bumps, on the other hand, have no indentations.
I apologize for sounding selfish, but I only responded to this board because we needed to look at this issue from different angles. I support the idea of having measures in place in order to protect the lives and properties of all Creekside residents, but not at the expense of those who may one day need immediate emergency attention. Every second lost due to emergency personnel not at the scene of an incident can be the difference between life and death.
I apologize for my ignorance. I should have known all the facts first before saying anything. I'm glad that Creekside Board and other leaders decided on installing speed humps instead of speed bumps.
