Why would a home with overgrown beds and unhealthy plantings be selected for recognition.  There are 3-4 other homes with a stone's throw with nicer yards.  What's up?

My post refers to the current Yard of the Month.  When I first tried to post on this, my comment was blocked, although it said basically the same thing.  Now that I'm in, let me elaborate.

First, this not a "sour grapes" complaint, as I do not seek Yard of the Month, and certainly don't deserve it, but I do check out the lawns that win, as I appreciate nice landscaping.

Last months winner was truly appropriate...beautiful lawn, pristine beds that were nicely planted and well-maintained...completely deserving winner who makes SR attractive.

Definitely not the case with the current yard...maintenance consists of cutting the grass, everything else is ignored and it looks like it...weeds taller than ground covers, brown plants.  I smell a rat in the judging process.  Surely we can be more discriminating.

agree with you fully.  I don't know what subdivison you are talking about, but  The Springs "yard of the month" has me cross eyed.  The one on pastura pass was really nice and well deserving.  But the current winner....well it needs a lot more work to compete with some of the others in The Springs.  Both my wife and I were floored when we saw it.  I am sure the home owners were just as shock when they saw the sign in their yard.  They probably said, "We weren't even trying"...no kidding!!!

Sorry, I was originally referring to the Yard of the Month in The Summit.  The sign has been removed, so this may have been a joke/prank.  Or, maybe it was just time to pick the next winner.  I know we have some pranksters roaming the neighborhood, because the other day a nearby house had 3 realtor signs in the yard.  Now that is a neighborly thing, isn't it.
