I know that I just moved into the neighborhood but I am confused on some things, maybe you could give me some insight.

Why do we pay such high dues if it does not include the pool and such?  I would have thought that would be included since it is part of the neighborhood.  Now I understand that the golf course is not, and I don't have a problem with that.

My other confusion is on storage.  I have noticed that some people want to get upset with the HOA about cars in the road and trash cans outside.  But if mini barns are not allowed many people have to store all their lawn equipment, bikes, and trash cans in the garage.  Which puts cars on the road, and trash cans outside due to lack of space.  What if there is some kind of agreement on small storage barns allowed as long as the siding and roofs match the house?

Thanks for reading, like I said earlier I am just unformiliar with the HOA.

My wife has the same complaint about the pool.  We bought our house in Hudson Bay in November.  We read the by-laws too.  There is a thing about not growing crops too.  You ever see that huge garden on Tibbs across the street from the school?  Also no flag poles are to be mounted in your yard.  My neighbor 3 doors down has one.

HOA dues (of which I mailed them a check for $188 today) are for landscaping of the common areas mostly.  Plus the occasional snow plow on the streets if we get over 2 inches.

I forgot about the street lights too.

I can't imagin that landscaping and lights would cost that much.  There are plenty of houses in the neighborood, they are raking in a good amount of money.  Even if the pool is not included, why so much to get in?

I don't remember reading anything that excluded the pool from the HOA fees.  On the MLS sheet it was actually stated that the pool was included in fees.
