President's Message
It is important that Southface is well represented as plans for SCIP II get underway. To that end, George and I have been attending the Parks & Rec Committee meetings. Joe Pelka had been involved in the Public Safety Committee, both SCIP I and II. The task of these and all other SCIP committees is to prioritize various projects needed in Colorado Springs.

Although it is important to look at the needs of the city as a whole, it certainly is useful to ensure that our area*s needs are met. A good example is our new Fire Station #18, built with SCIP I funds.

Our recreation center was allocated the least amount of all the recreation centers funded by SCIP. The explanation that was given was that there were no participants from the Northwest at the meetings. We will make sure that doesn*t happen again.
The Parks & Rec Committee meets on Monday nights from 6:30-8:30 at the Senior Center on Hancock, off Uintah.

If you are interested in any of the other committees, for example, drainage, transportation, public safety, etc., call the city at 578-6395 to get a complete list of all the committees available and when they meet.

This is your opportunity to really have an impact on the city*s direction and priorities.
