last night's meeting

I have known the President, Steve Lange, for a number of years but I found his behavior last night out of control. I had voted to keep him in office but after giving it more thought, I feel that he should resign before the board has to vote him out.

yes, unfortunately

I commend your insight and courage.
What was witnessed last night was very sad for everyone. Perhaps this is a man who has given too much to the community and is totally burned out. His behavior toward members, even new ones, was reprehensible and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances in any type of organization. Hopefully he will resign,
regroup and be able to contribute in the future in a positive manner. A most unpleasant situation for everyone but I agree a quiet resignation would save face for all in the long and the short run. He certainly does not have to prove his
ongoing devotion to the organization, if you read his bio. But, he is obviously stressed out and needs for others to carry the load now.
yes, but.....

I'm new to the neighborhood. Although I purchased a house in February '99 I didn't move in until the renovations were completed two months ago. But I joined North Shore in March of last year so I could learn about my new neighborhood; I've missed but one meeting since I joined. I don't know many neighbors yet and I definitely don't know the cliques, the jockeying that's obviously taking place and the axes that are being ground.

Last night's meeting was an embarrassment. The great turnout at Tuesday's meeting at the Sunshine Center was good to see, and I figured lots of these "new" people would become involved in the monthly meetings. Boy, am I glad they didn't show last night because if they did they'd probably never come back.

In the time I've spent at the monthly meetings I've come to appreciate and respect the hard work that a fairly small number invests in the work of the association, and I thought I respected those individuals as well. Last night put that to the test.

I came to the meeting naively expecting to get an update about the CVS issue. Obviously some others had more on their mind than that. I don't condone the way Steve handled the meeting, but I am disturbed with what seems to have been an organized effort to get him out as president. After one president has just resigned, now there's an effort to get rid of the next one (if this is what happens when a president makes what some consider a mistake then heaven help the next person who takes on the job).

The concern of those opposed to Steve is valid, but pushing that motion through when there hadn't been any advance notice that such an important issue was going to be brought up and attendance was low is not the way this should have been handled.

The CVS issue is causing divisions in the neighborhood and the association, and those are being compounded by last night's actions. I hope someone is trying to put the pieces back together.

resignation

Your reply was well spoken. Mr.Lange has done so much for our neighborhood and we all do appreciate the commitment
and energy that he put forth. But, that does not give him the right to treat people as he did last night. As the President, even though he was under attack, should have handled the meeting in a different manner. That is what a leader should do.

We thank Mr. Lange for all he has done for the Northshore but should quietly resign and hopefully he can serve our community in other capacities as he has done before.
