1. You are correct about not owning a B&B in the NE. We do own one in the SE and this particular point is immaterial. The codes affect all B&Bs regardless of location. And we all have the best interests of the neighborhoods in our thoughts and actions. The Old NE claims to be a historical area and the B&Bs there are all in historically designated homes and buildings, at least the ones in our Association. They are finely maintained, have accommodations that not even the Vinoy can reproduce, and are very valuable assets to your historical neighborhood, as is the Bayboro House to the Southeast.
2. St. Petersburg is in the midst of changes to benefit the city and the surrounding areas and to help it keep prospering as it is. Many of the NE folks are against any kind of change and apparently want nothing for the city. It is all about one little section. This is evident by the printed answers to the St. Pete Times article the other day on what should be done with the waterfront. Every answer fron Old NE residents did not one thing changed. Pretty closed minded in this day and age.
3. Clarity is a lot better than redundancy and our city codes are in for a major revampment, especially ones like the B&B codes that are over 20 years old. Have you ever read the codes and honestly said to yourself, '' I know exactly what they mean''? I know I haven't. There are several that border on unconstitutional in my opinion. Are we to keep those and just go with the flow? It will be an interesting meeting on the 17th. I sincerely hope to meet you. Thanks for your imput.
