Weddings
Dear A.C.,
Thanks for your imput and I appreciate your candor. It seems as though people in this discussion have the idea that there is going to be a wedding next door every weekend. This is really not the case. On the average, these functions happen certain times of the year and the the rest of the time it is pretty slow, so we are not talking about an every day occurence. As far as the Pier goes, would you gat married there, or have your son or daughter get married there?

Disturbance None the Less
Correct in most wedding taking place certain times of the year. That would mean that in June and December the B&B neighbors will be flooded with weddings that will rob them of their right to live in peace. And yep I would let my kid get married at the pier and have the reception there so that I would not disturb my neighbors. That's what public, commercial facilities are for. B&Bs are for quiet
residential type places to stay when visiting an area.

Additional Information
Please attend the September 17th meeting with your concerns about existing B&B's. B&B's are a success in St. Petersburg and many other cities; the regulations we adopt should be appropriate to current circumstances and industry standards. I know it is possible to create a City Code which addresses and protects St. Petersburg's uniqueness and appropriately regulates business activities for B&B's and the many other issues for which our current zoning ordinance is outdated. I am committed to addressing issues on this matter prior to review of the proposed ordinance by Council. In response to an anonynous posting on this site, my expertise is not in urban forestry; I have a masters degree in Public Administration.

Sept 17 meeting
It is good that this meeting on Sept 17 will allow residents to address a change in the ordinance governing Bread & Breakfasts. For this we can thank CONA and North Shore Neighborhood Association. With a masters degree in PUBLIC Administration, some find it odd that the assoc of B & B's was able to meet with you, as an administrator, and draw up a new ordinance
without due process given to the affected neighborhoods. However, that is the past. Let us all move forward and find a compromise which allows the continued success of B & Bs and gives homeowners their right to live in peace and quiet enjoyment of their property. Oh, and let's make sure that City Legal checks any conflicts with residential zoning.
