ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Posted in: Historic Old Northeast
Just returned from a nice Saturday morning drive though our beautiful and historic neighborhood.

Was shocked to see the home on 12th Avenue is getting worse! You all know the one - with the PLASTIC TREES planted in the ground in the front yard(sun-faded plastic leaves and all!)

Oh yeah it's also the one with the teddy bears hung all over the burgler bars that enclose the front porch!

Well, today's addition is over the top and was enough to encourage me to write! This large two-story home is now being painted a fluorescent shade of marigold!!!!...and with fire-engine red trim!

Can this be stopped? What about our neighborhood architectural review board - do they have any power here?

One adjacent neighbor now has their house for sale - good luck to them in selling (at reduced value!)

Drive by today is you'll say ''ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!''

ENOUGH

A MAN'S HOME IS HIS CASTLE!
GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A Nightmare

I know the house you are talking about and I have heard that codes has made them remove a lot of stuff that was on the roof , etc in the past.
I don't think there is a architectural
review board or the like because this is not a deed restricted community. Rumor has it that the owners are- how to put this?- not of clear mind. Also, if you walk by the house please be careful because there was a vicious dog there a week or so ago- scared the you know what out of me!
This is a sad thing especially for the people who have to look at it but it can happen in most any neighborhood. Best thing to try to do is to call codes because all that loose decorative junk is a real hazard in a wind storm, a safety hazard! Also hopefully the president of the association will read your posting and can report the problem to the city neighborhood office and maybe they can help in some way. By the way, check out the developing ''Enough'' situation on 14th Ave and Oak. the only good news there is that they are renters on a lease and that mess will probably disappear. It is certainly against code because I think a property can only have one arbor thing per property or something. Help is definitely needed rom the assocaition on these properties! Is there an active codes committee???
Bull

No way, man, that anybody should have to look at that mess, castle or no castle. If I lived across the street I would be living in a nightmare. you have not seen the place or you have no compassion for the neighbors at all.
