First off, I would like to thank you for signing your name to your posting. Secondly I would like to thank you for informing us on how you voted.

Steve, your posting sounds genuine but your message falls a little bit short of way short. Let me explain.

You say I am disliked by the majority.
You say that I run my mouth when giving committee reports and the like at general membership meetings. What would you have me do, be silent? Not give the reports. Explain everything to you so you could make the reports for me?

You say that you have lived here for 7 1/2 years and were ''thrilled to live in a neighborhood with such a strong association''. And thats good. And, I did not do everthing for North Shore over the last 12 years by myself. No way. There were hundreds and hundreds of folks who did the work and volunteering. I was just one steady volunteer. But like others, I do believe that one of the handprints on the development of North Shore is mine so when you speak of a strong association, you somewhat speak of me also. But I digress.

You say that you volunteered numerous times to be on my committees. And over the last four years that has only been landscaping, NDR and Historic District. Each of these committees has had anywhere from five to thirty people on each of them at any given moment. No one was ever turned away by me. No one has ever complained to me as you do now.

My name and number is continuously posted in the newsletter each month. I dare say it has been in every issue for 12 years. I do not remember ever receiving a call from you.

Remember Steve, this is a volunteer organization not a recruitment organization. The way it works is that you take the initiative and call the committee chair and you come to the committee meetings. You make all of these kinds of efforts. I don't recruit. I do post requests in the newsletters. Then when people like you call me I say, meet me at 4th and 5th avenue on Saturday at 9:00 A. M. Thats how it works for lanscaping, as an example.

As for your ''croonies'' comment, here this. I was president of North Shore in 1991 and I could and did nominate committee chairpersons. Prior to 1991 I had no authority to nominate committee chairpersons. From January of 1992 until Joyce Fry resigned I had no authority to nominate anyone. The past presidents who could nominate are: Mary Alice Lange (two years as president), Kathleen Ford, David McEwen, Debra Cimminarro, Cary Burns, Time Baker, Rob Wertz, Lane Lastinger and Joyce Frey. Since Joyce's resignation I only had about three weeks to nominate folks.

Now having said this, I add the following. If my recollection is correct there are about 20 plus various committees and or work positions, like editor, or secretary, or designated person to pick up the mail, or the monthly folding the newsletter group, etc. or replacing the light bulbs in the entry monuments, etc. etc. etc.

I do not control all of this.

You could volunteer anytime to do any of these kinds of things and you would'nt have asked me or my wife. You would have asked or talked to any of those presidents listed above or the other ten committee chairpersons. Mind you I have nothing to do with the Tour of Homes comm., or membership comm., or social/events comm. or traffic comm. or codes comm. etc. You could volunteer for any of these without passing within ten miles of my house. So, don't wait to be recruited. It won't happen. So remember this, WE ARE A VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION! So go out and volunteer. And for goodness sakes, please do not listen to that one (1) neighbor any more. Gadds-Zuks man, think and volunteer for yourself.

Bob, the Stop CVS'ers group was the group that organized and led the charge against me, Joyce, John, the association, etc.

You say I'm Arrogant. Thats your opinion. Others say nicer things to me all the time. Who am I to believe? Thirty one people or hundreds of others?

You are correct, as of today I do have a lack of respect for about thirty one people.

Bob its not, I repeat, its not a vendictive attitude. Its politics. I and Joyce and John and almost the whole North Shore Neighborhood Association were out-politiced over the last ninety days or so. But politics is a funny thing. It isn't ever completely over. It just goes on and on.

While I don't quite remember who you are, or Bob Russell in the posting above, I do want to thank you both for using your real names.

Now having said that, I add this. I can not give the other names of the thirty one because I did not know most of them. Never saw some of them before. Its difficult to name names under these circumstances. Besides, the folks who voted were in a large grouping. There hands were'nt up for long. After the hands went down it was too late to try and remember.

One last comment.

Since my name has been used & abused for about ninety days, probably a zillion times, you are saying that that should not have happened? No one has the right to use my name without my permission? Can this be true? And now, in the alternate, I can not now post the election results in a publicly held neighborhood vote?

Yes to all of the above

Yes Steve, that is exactly what I am saying. It might be right to publish the total results of a vote by the general membership, but to publish how each member voted is undemocratic.

It's undemocratic because it discourages people from voting.

Listing the names of voters in a printed newsletter would be bad enough. Posting them on the internet makes the names accessible to any person in the world who has a computer.

This is not the same as publishing how a board member, or some other person who supposedly represents a constituency, has voted.

By the way, I have introduced myself to you on two different occasions. Both times I got the strong impression that you didn't give a flip who I was.
