Like it or not, Steve Lange is good for our neighborhood.

Most of us that have moved to North Shore have done so due to the appearance of the neighborhood and the housing supply within our neighborhood. This includes, the Historic Nature of most of the homes, alley access (very few garage doors visable from the street), NDR (requiring new homes to meet the appearance of older homes), etc.

With these reasons in mind, for many of us living in North Shore, Like It Or Not, we have moved here as a direct result of the work that Steve Lange has done.

I am certainly not saying that Steve Lange was the only person that worked on these issues. Many people have put in uncountable hours of work. Steve has been one of the cornerstones and has earned that position for giving of himself for over ten years.

Many would say that for all of the good he has done, he has worn out his welcome due to the way he has responded in the last few months.

Steve HAS responded inappropriatly at times. Most of us tend to do so when our integrity is questioned. Integrity may be a question for some people, but not for Steve Lange. He has proven himself to this neighborhood over the last ten years time and time again.

Steve has been questioned on items such as Zoning, Historic Preservation and NDR. Anyone who has lived here longer than a few years, knows questioning Steve Lang's staunch support of these issues, is like questioning water being wet.

Maybe Steve Lange is or is not the best person to be President of North Shore.

He is certainly one of the reasons many of us live here.

I believe we need his strong advocacy of the strict enforcement of the NDR guidelines, as well as his sholders to help carry us through the Historic Designation process.

I am a friend of Steve Lange's, a proud friend. I do believe he can walk on water, I just think it is best if does so when it is frozen....... and about one foot thick..... better make that two feet.
Well said

F.D. Fudge:

You are correct. Steve Lange has done a great deal for all of Old Northeast St. Petersburg. I would never try to rob him of his due.

It would be great if he would remain on the Board and continue with his input.

You are also correct that he may not be suited to hold the position of President. Steve has a way of being very controlling. Anything which does not go according to his plans is viewed as treason. He seems to have a hair trigger which, when set off, results in unusual behavior. None of these are qualities of a leader.

Hopefully, all will gel soonest.

Good points

You make some really good points and I can't think of anybody who disagree that Steve is the resident expert on NDR, historic preservation and other things. And the motion to remove his membership went nowhere- it wouldn't have passed in a zillion years.

But just like everybody else, Steve has his strong points and his weak points. His strength is in detail not in leadership of a whole organization.
He has shown his strength in heading up specific projects, but shows weakness in understanding
the whole picture sometimes. Other people are just the opposite.

And to say he is not the person to be the president is not an insult. Most people would not be good presidents. The trick is to find someone who can lead AND handle the PR end of things. The healing needs to begin.
Confused?

What exactly are you saying? At one point you are for steve, then you are not? Get it right.
