Jamie...
I understand that there are laws that we must abide by for the city of greer. The problem is...has anyone on the board EVER made the complaint to the city of greer? Because i am pretty sure that if the city of greer had been monitoring i know of one house, that problem would have fixed. I see a house everyday that has vines growing up the front of the house that is actually changing colors for the fall. The house is almost completely coveredon the a/c side of the house.
I am all for abiding by the bylaws that we have. I think the reason the houses i see are never changing for the good, is the fact that i live on the main riverside circle and the board only sees where they live in the cul de sac....go figure..
I will do my best to attend the meeting on monday the 2nd. I would love to see this neighborhood like it used to be.

I am very aware that we only have 3 board members and that we have OPEN positions. I have checked into the open positions and not one of them apply to the problems at hand. I have noticed that the board members say they need our help that they cannot do this by themselves. The problems i see when i walk everyday are the problems that they CAN fix. Why do we have lawns that look like CRAP....if you can't cut it, find someone who can. I have seen 3 houses just this morning on my walk that have blinds on the front windows that are half hanging from being torn up. The mailboxes look awful. I would think that the president of the board could inforce something to change this. What are we paying dues for??? I have seen NO improvements in this neighborhood in years. I am willing to help on the board, but we have to have people that are willing to help and not be afraid to do something. With the amount of money we pay in dues every year, we should have a better neighborhood than this. Frank, Marv and Caryn, what can you do to fix theses lawn problems and houses that look like they are on the repo side????
We have to do sometheing if you want this to be a great place to live. We have the schools to bring new neighbors, but i afraid that they will not buy here if the yard beside them looks like freakin' jungle in the front and back with weeds growing up the house and houses with half of the shutters missing.
WHAT CAN WE DO TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS..these are continuing problems that roll from one year to the next...

Stephanie,
I have served on the board in the past. You might think that just because the board has the money that we can change the appearance of homes in the subdivision. It is not that easy. The board has to abide by the laws of the City of Greer. If someones lawn needs to be mowed, the board can't just go in an mow the lawn. We have to notify the city of greer, they come out and monitor the lawn. Once it gets totally out of hand they will leave a notice with the homeowner. At that point must homeowners will mow their lawns and then let it go until they are notified by the City of Greer again. As for people that have binds inside their homes that are half hanging, there is really nothing that the HOA can do able things that people have going on inside their own homes.
As an HOA there are only certain positions that apply to the HOA. You need to read your CC&R's. There is a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer and such other officers as may from time to time be appointed. (Page 8). The next HOA meeting is scheduled for November 8. Maybe you should show up at this meeting and put your name on the ballot to be a board member. You will see that it is not as easy as you think to get things done in the neighborhood.
