Hello Everyone,

I was speaking to one of my neighbors today and was told of a incident that took place on their property Thursday evening around 1am.   Their doorbell rang, they got up to answer the door...no one there.   They spotted 2 teenagers dressed in black wearing ski masks in their backyard.....one of them had a butcher knife.   When confronted, they dropped the knife and fled.

Olentangy Schools did not have classes today and it was theorized that the 2 teens live in our neighborhood.  As a homeowner here, I am shocked that something like this happened.

..and if the teens that did this are reading this.....know this........Doing something like this might seem cool or might seem funny but what are you going to do next time when a homeowner looks outside and sees someone with a weapon and they shoot you??  Is this really something worth risking your life over????   I am a gun owner and I believe in protecting my family and my property.   Is it going to take a kid or a young adult to get shot before parents in this neighborhood know what their kids are doing????

If the teens that are responsible are reading this I hope you take this seriously.  I was a young kid once and I did some stupid things....I learned the hard way....I hope you do not have too.

This is obviously pretty serious. I am glad you reported it to the police. How do we know it was "kids" or "teens" for sure? Furthermore, I think it is serious enough to speak openly about with each other. I would encourage you to also speak directly with the HOA (myself, Nathan Dawson at 14 Tabilore Loop, Dan Neilson or Mike Callahan). There have been other "odd" events and in order to deal with these appropriately, it would be best if we did it in person or even in a scheduled gathering, rather than on this site, only because it is not viewed by most.

Im not sure what the school having classes or not and the time of this event have in common. Did this happen on Thursday night into Friday morning at 1? or Friday night into Saturday? Also, Olentangy had school on Friday, so this part is not accurate.

The neighbor involved in this contacted the police and did speak with Dan and the HOA emailed a note out to everyone.

I was merely sending out a paraphrased description of what I was told.   I do not have kids so I have no idea when Olentangy is in session or not.   If I was wrong there I apologize.   

I am guessing the size and shape of the "masked individuals" were relative to teenagers.   I have had a few issues with some of the older kids in this neighborhood late at night and during the day....whether ringing doorbells or even knocking on bedroom windows in the middle of the night.   Some of have been caught in the act and others have gotten away. 

I was just trying to say that if it was teenagers in our neighborhood responsible for this and they are reading my first note, they need to think before they act.
