Our home was burglarized on Thursday, January 8th. We live in the Lakes of River Trails North on Silent Creek Trail but as our subdivisions are so close together I felt it necessary to share with you all too. I apparently scared them off because they were in the middle of taking our living room TV and left behind a tote they had filled up of stuff. My husband left around 9:15am and I returned home at 10:45am. In this short time they ransacked our entire home. They broke in through the side window next to our front door and left in a haste out the backyard. They broke the fence going over and I found some of my belongings on the side of my neighbors house that must have fallen out of the pillow cases the loaded up. I say they because it takes 2 people to remove the TV from the wall and they didn't even move furniture. We are also assuming that they had a car because why else would they gather all these big items if they didn't have somewhere to drive off with them. I am in the process of compiling what is missing, they made off with the small ticket items but had to leave behind the other stuff since I had come home.

At this point I am a little numb, I am trying not to think about the possibility of me arriving earlier. The FW response time was terrible, it took them about an hour. My husband drove from Coppell and we still waited another 20 minutes before they got here. They miscoded my call as priority 2 or 3 instead of a 1 since when I came home I was sure they were still in the vicinity. I did not enter the house when I realized what was going on, I just retraced my steps, grabbed my dog and went to my neighbors house.

The officer said that burglaries are way up due to the economy and that they are hitting newer subdivisions. They had break ins in S. Arlington the next day and the previous week several home burglarized over by Alliance airport.

Use your home alarms as ours was not armed. If you have dogs leave them inside your home to help. But as the officer said if they want inside your home they will find a way in.

Our neighborhoods are being targeted by these thieves and we should work together to make our homes safer.

Hi

I know this doesnt help much but i am sorry you had to go through that it happened to my family a few years back when we lived in arlington, i really wanted to hurt someone when it happened just to make them pay its a horrible feeling. I am glad you and your family were not hurt and yes we have to look out for each other but i have seen a lot more police around our neighborhood in the last week or so i dont know itf thats good or bad.

Take care

Thank you so much for sharing and I am sorry for your loss but so glad no one was hurt.  I have stated before that FWPD response time is completely unacceptable, although others may disagree something must be done about it!!! How the hell is it a noise complaint gets immediate response when an attempted burglary gets a priority 2 or 3!  White Lightnin are you a police officer?

Did  you call 9-11 via a cell phone or a land line? In some cases the the 9-11 operators do not forward calls to the correct police department; we are in an area where Hurst, North Richland Hills, and Fort Worth all come together  and there is a possiblity that they thought you were in the subdivision north of Trinity and in North Richland Hills jurisdiction.

I think the problem was probably with the 9-11 operator rather than the police.
