It is my understanding that we have granted access to, Non Promontory Pointe HOA communities, the use of our swimming pool; is this true?

Scott - The HOA Board has granted guest memberships for this swim season to homeowners in the Wilderness Pointe neighborhood on a trial basis. Wilderness Pointe is the only "outside" community involved.

Homeowners in Wilderness Pointe desiring to participate pay a $175 fee to do so and are subject to the same rules and policies as our homeowners. Our homeowners in Promontory Pointe pay nothing for their pool card, as you know. At last count, 10 homeowners in Wilderness Pointe had signed up. The Board will review the results of the trial at the end of this swim season and decide whether to continue it next year.

Dave,

Thank you for your response.  You are correct I don't pay a pool card fee, but I do pay each year to my HOA, which allows me the privilege to use the pool.    I am curious in regards to any  future decisions, will all HOA members have the opportunity to vote on this matter?

Thanks for your time.

Scott - the short answer to your question is "no, the members will not get an opportunity to "vote". The HOA Board of Directors is legally empowered to plan and execute budgets, manage the finances of the HOA and manage and oversee the daily operations and functions of the HOA. There are very limited areas, such as modifying our Covenants, selecting Board of Directors members, etc., where homeowners get to "vote". That is true of any HOA, not just ours. You can find details in our By-laws and Covenants.

Members of the Board are homeowners just as you are, who volunteer their time and energies. We make every effort to consider the input of our fellow homeowners and HOA members when making major decisions, but the "final say" is the Board's. In this case, the Board decided to offer guest memberships to Wilderness Pointe homeowners on a one season trial basis, as a potential revenue generator. Pool operations and maintenance consume approximately 25% of our common area budget, and costs continue to rise. We get numerous requests every year from neighboring communities to join our pool, but are not inclined to open the pool to "outsiders" on a wholesale basis. We will make a final decision on whether to continue the Wilderness Pointe guest program at the end of this swim season.

I would encourage you if you have not done so, to review the budget here on the web site. Also, if you have not registered your email address and other information with the HOA, i encourage you to use the form here on the web page in the Community pages section, and do that so you will receive HOA communications and information.
