hi folks!
i was so excited when i heard that the city had changed the zoning to allow mba to buy and build on the property at 42nd and dakota. unfortunately, our councilman john summers is trying to appeal the zone change.
i think the majority of sylvan park residents are all for mba coming in, but a few residents have been trying to kep mba out.
LET'S WELCOME MBA TO SYLVAN PARK!
LET'S MAKE SYLVAN PARK AN EVEN BETTER PLACE!

you shoulda been there
We had our regular monthly neighborhood association meeting last night, and voted to appeal in Chancery Court the zoning board's decision to allow MBA to build a recreational facility on the Oman property.
Everyone agrees that MBA's PROPOSED used is okay. What bothers everyone is MBA's absolute refusal to even consider changing the zoning on the property from industrial so that we protect the future use of that land for our neighborhood.

YES TO MBA
I agree! Unfortunately, despite the fact that 200 people signed a petition in support of MBA in Sylvan Park, our neighborhood association is going to continue to fight them coming into our neighborhood. We need to get more people who support MBA at meetings. You do not have to pay dues to attend meetings and have your voice heard. Meetings are the 2nd Monday of each month at Cohn learning center. Spread the word. E-mail Bernard Pickney with your concerns until then-and tell everyone you know who also supports MBA to e-mail him too. E-mail John Summers as well!

why change zoning?
The zoning board said said in their discussions at the hearing that if it wasn't for the fact that the property was zoned industry, MBA would have lost their permit. I don't blame them for not wanting to chance losing their permit by changing the zoning. If it is so definite that an industry will not buy the property then why is the neighborhood association so insistant that the zoning change?
