No olympic pool

Posted in: Redland Woods
What we need is a neighborhood pool NOT a community pool. Once we open it up to other communities in our area we will find ourselves having to open it to more and more communities and we wont be able to control who wants to come and use our pool for swim meets. If people in the neighborhood want a swim tean they need to start one with the local YMCA. We just need a place for our neighborhood to have a place to gather, relax and cool off in the summer.
...but We do need a pool

I agree that we need a community pool. I have not heard of any discussions about an olympic pool, but I have heard discussions about a larger pool (''Jr-olympic''), that could be used by us and Redland Ridge. If a larger pool doesn't costs much more and sharing the pool would keep our costs down (and maybe even provide revenue), then it sounds like an alternative that needs to be considered.
yes pool - no to others

Why do we need to let another community use our pool? This is not acceptable - you will then get more and more people using our pool and then maintenance costs go up. Redland Woods needs a pool but this is one instance where it will not be better to share. Where are all the people from Redland Ridge going to park? Yes we need a pool but it needs to remain for the use of this neighborhood only.
yes to pool - yes to others

''you will then get more and more people using our pool and then maintenance costs go up''
The sharing of pool with other neighborhoods hopefully will offset the whole maintenance cost of pool(which wouldn't raise dues or charging our own membership fee for the pool).

I say the famous movie line from the Field of Dreams.

BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME(and pay)
