Wal-Mart--I got results

In June 20, 2002, TxDOT entered into a Construction and Maintenance Agreement with the City of San Antonio for the City to design and construct roadway improvements to US 87 at the proposed Wal-Mart driveway location.

The improvements consists of:

* Improving by widening and realigning an existing median crossover to access the proposed Wal-Mart driveway

* Constructing short sections of sidewalks and barrier free ramps, primarily on the Wal-Mart side of US 87

* Crosswalk pavement markings, and striping for two new left turn bays approaching the median crossover

* Traffic signal construction with pedestrian signal heads at the crosswalk locations

I was informed today that the City may have already started the median crossover work. However, the traffic signal work is not yet underway. David Balli (copied) may soon be able to give us a timeframe on when the traffic signal work may start, and when the project will be completed.

In discussing this location with Pat Irwin, he encourages the City to construct the sidewalks south of US 87 to accomodate any pedestrian activity that may come out of the Lakeside, Crest Lake and Green Acres sub-divisions. We normally construct sidewalks with construction projects, not as stand alone projects. However, the MPO in the past has selected sidewalk projects and they may find that this may be a good project location.

Well I must say I haven't viewed this sight in a while and it is amazing that we can be so negative, no wonder our kids have attitudes when we see some saying idiot, ignorant, etc. My suggestion would be that if the author of this is concerned then why not go to the meetings and check it out, or is it just a waste of time for you. It is amazing how many people live in this neighborhood and how so many have so little interest in interacting with your own neighbors and doing something. I would say lastly that we are all just human and when it comes to trying to be perfect in trying to do what we can, those that use ignorant and idiot, must take a look in the mirror I would say.
