Well sir I hope that you are not the respondent when a child in this neighborhood is struck by a car where speed bumps could have possibly prevented it. Wouldn't these same speedhumps also help prevent the same ambulances from having to come to their aid? It makes no sense to be against them when they seem to help reduce the reckless behavior of some of our residents. I know this because I have seen people slow down, and now I see people actually drive slower down our streets. To me the change is considerable, and most welcome. And spare the talk about statistics and speed bumps, because you should know that statistics can be made to suit anyones cause. An example for you unbelivers: San Antonio had a gang problem when their was funding provided for areas that had gang problems, when the funding was ended, so did San Antonio's gang problem (how convenient).

Speed Bumps a Blessing.

I truly can not understand why anyone would actually have a problem with a device that is an improvement to our Creekside Neighborhood. Whether I have children or not, ''safety'' in the area we live is a primary concern. We wouldn't have an issue if our own residents living here would slow down in our neighborhood. I am so tired of being passed by other cars, because I am abiding by the speed limit. Also, what about people passing school buses??? Just tonight when I was out running I witnessed careless drivers not abiding by the speed limit. These speed bumps are a great improvement to keeping all residents in our neighborhood safe. They were carefully chosen to allow for the Fire Department and Ambulance vehicles to respond to. I respect your opinion. However, I would think anyone living here would want to add safety devices for all.

Apologies

I want to first of all apologize for the anger and bitterness that appears in my response to the homeowner against the speed humps. I am angry because my child is a victim of the same type of drivers that the speed bumps are hindering today. I notice that there is a difference, thanks in large part to the speed bumps in the neighborhood. I have also come to find out that the speed bumps are approved by the fire department, and do not hinder the response time that is necessary for safety. So with this information, the only reason to not have them is for drivers who do not want their travel impeded. Is it too much to ask that we slow down in our neighborhood to a respectful and lawful limit? Kids, joggers, animals, and anyone who wanders into the street are those being protected by the speed bumps. What is so bad about slowing down for a second or two to get over them? When I made the statement about sacrificing the kids on this street I did so sarcastically, because I felt it was selfish that a person was more concerned about his drive or vehicle than everyone's safety in this neighborhood. I apologize for the statement, but not the anger that I felt for such a close minded response. Give me a better reason to not have speed bumps. One that will add safety to the neighborhood, and will help control or impede the speeders. It is said by the police that speed bumps help issues of speeding drivers. To me that is enough of a reason to keep them. If the only reason is for the care of a vehicle, well then I am sorry, but that is not good enough. Drive slower, and you may not harm your car. It cant be because of emergency response, because the fire department has stated that speed humps, as these are called, do not hinder response times because they are specifically made to accomidate the large emergency vehicles. So the only reason to not want them then is purely selfish ones. Like I said, give me a better and safer alternative and I will be glad to listen, but otherwise I have to disagree with your choice. Just like you will attempt to put together a petition to prevent them, I will be glad to help put together one that will add them. And just as over ninety percent agreed to them on our street, I am hard pressed to think that they will not be approved throughout the neighborhood where traffic is heavy. I believe that more are for them than against them, and I would suggest you take a look at the past petition to prove this point. I dont think Alexa Place is an anomolie in this neighborhood. I feel that our street is just like the others in this neighborhood, and the residents have the same concerns as we do about safety. Once again my apologies for the anger in my earlier response, and for those I may have offended. But listen to this with an open mind, and pray you will never have a child, like I have, that will be struck by a vehicle speeding in our neighborhood. And by the way, for those who think we were letting her play in the street, your wrong. All she was doing was crossing the street to go over to a friends house directly across from ours. Thats how easy it is for a child to be hurt by a speeding and inconsiderate driver. Thanks for your understanding in this.

I Like Bumps!

First of all, I would like to ask each person to stand up and tell there name. If you were at any home owner meeting to express your feeling about any issues. Then I give you credit! The rest can sit in there homes and complain. Second! The NEW TYPE SPEED BUMPS are design for fire trucks and EMT trucks. 3. I would have to say that there is a major problem in this neigborhood with speeders. The police can't sit here all night long for one subdivision. I have Patrol our area and have even followed people to there homes to ask them to please slow down. If you or anyone else can come up with a better way to correct the avg. Speed of 65 MPH. Clocked by the police. 10 cars in an hour. Please feel free to come to a home owners meeting or call our homeowners Association to give them this great Idea! I thank the people who have done this. And for the people saying I watch my kids and I don't let them in the street! Well, I got news for you. The last accident i saw was a speeder that ended up in the yard and by the front window of the house. Do your kids play in the front yard? or by the garage? This happen here in this subdivision. On a clear day. By A teen who was going to his friends house.
I Love speed bumps! Lets slow them down then lets talk about another idea!
