That's What Committees Are For!

Why have an Architect and Landscape Committee, if you don't consult them in the change of the gate architecture and landscaping? Stop acting on our behalf, if you do not care to ask us what we want.

the real issue

It is not my intention in this post to join the specific debate regarding Linda's proposal and the Board's response to the same. While the Board dismisses Linda's proposal as not being ''feasible or workable,'' it fails to address what I perceive to be the root cause of proposals such as Linda's ---- the Board and SBB have done an abysmally poor job keeping the homeowners informed. For example, this website is never updated by the Board or SBB to remind homeowners of upcoming Board meetings and agendas are never published for the homeowners in advance of Board meetings such as would allow the homeowners to participate either by attending the meetings or apprising their representatives of their views. Short of actual attendance at Board meetings [not always possible if one travels], it is virtually impossible to stay informed of the decisions the Board is considering [which we as homeowners will pay for]. I wrote to SBB Management in August [with copies of my correspondence to various HOA representatives] requesting HOA documents on a variety of subjects and even enclosed a check to cover reasonable copy costs and postage expenses but never received a response. I wrote again in September reminding SBB of my prior request for information and did not even receive the simple courtesy of an acknowledgement of the outstanding request until October 17 [the date of the Board meeting] --- I guess someone must have thought I would show up and raise a fuss at the meeting [which I would have done but for the fact that I was out of town on business]. Guess what? I still haven't received any of the information I requested in early August!!! Is the idea of keeping the homeowners informed [with special emphasis on the ''owner'' part] another proposal that is not ''feasible or workable?'' I understand that a master landscape plan [just a plan] to the tune of $16,000 to $25,000 [incorporating many of the proposals rejected by the homeowners last fall] is currently being considered by the Board. Is the Board going to talk to us about the Plan and the necessity of such an expenditure before voting on it or is that another idea that is not ''feasible or workable?''
