I would like to remind everyone that San Antonio City Manager Sheryl Sculley made the official declaration of Stage One water restrictions on April 10.
Stage One of the city's drought plan is triggered when the level of the Edwards Aquifer drops to 660 feet. And, according to the city's Aquifer Management Plan ordinance, the level must stay above 660 ft. for 30 days to end Stage One water restrictions.
As part of stage one, "aesthetic water features" - outdoors or indoors - is prohibited, unless a variance has been granted for 100 percent non-potable water use.
Has anyone called SAWS to discuss what the definition of "water features" is? SAWS Conservation Department at 704-SAVE.
The board should consider multiple perspectives in malking their decisions. So why not have a represenative from SAWS at our next meeting?
