@Scott:
Considering your dig your post hardly deserves a response, but since you went to the trouble.
I don't need to reread anything to prove that there hasn't been any particular attention paid to the increase in assessments save for an honorable mention of sorts with regard to the initial estimate of how much water it takes to fill the lake, or alternative options that aren‘t really being taken seriously when one considers that actions speak louder than words. As I've mentioned, I think the assessment issue is being ignored because some might think to truly give it the attention it deserves would cause a majority of residents that live off the lake to support some other option besides keeping it. An extra $130+ a month is a lot of money, after all.
All the attention is directed by the board to language about due diligence, property values, etc. etc., with regard to keeping the lake. All that sounds like a smoke screen to distract from the inevitable increase in assessments. Kind of like what you‘re doing now except for the part about assessments being different, I didn‘t get that part at all. You paid more for your home because you have a lakeside view. Your lakeside view increases your property value, ergo you would deserve to pay a higher assessment if assessments were based on property values. I think you were doing the same fuzzy math Bush used to do, nice try though, besides that, don't blame me for the lack of your haggling skills. Perhaps it's the properties with the lakeside views the board is referring to when mentioning maintaining property values, I wonder.
Furthermore, you may not know exactly by when and how much assessments will increase, but I'm sure you must have an inkling of an idea same as you did with all the info about how much work was going into keeping the lake. At the very least remind residents once in awhile so that they're not caught off guard when the hammer falls. And at over $130 a month that's going to be a mighty big hammer for some. I say this because I noticed you wrote "When we know we TRY to let everyone know". That my dear Vice President is a very telling statement.
Humbly yours,
P.S. I do appreciate all the hard work everyone does. I think the "Ducks have the right of way" signs were long over due. The stripes on the speed humps are very much appreciated, especially by guests when the pop in for a visit. And, all the flowers look very nice. BTW: there's a coating called frog juice for signage that helps with cleaning graffiti.
