I have a request to make.  The blade(s) on my older riding mower need(s) to be removed and sharpened or possibly even replaced.  Does anyone know how to do this and, if so, please show me how?  Thank you.

It's probably just a matter of ratcheting a few bolts off the blades to remove them, or else google, "how to remove blades from a make and model riding lawn mower," and that should bring up a few forums on the matter. Depending on the age and what tools you have, sharpening or replacing is up to you. If you do replace them just make sure you torque them down right, you don't want them flying off and injuring soneone.

I had to replace the blades on my mower once and it wasn't that hard at all. I still had the owners manual, and it had part #s, so everything went smothly.

 Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the suggestions.  It would probably be easier to remove and replace and I had not thought to google for instructions.  Another great neighbor moment.

EBH,

It is not a matter of racheting a few bolts,

1. did you unplug the spark plug wire?   If you don't you might start up your engine the old fashion way.(you'll be known as Lefty)

2. the blade has to be secured very tight. or it will just spin and spin.

I would take the blade or machine to J@L on Austin Hwy..they provide excellent service and can do all of that for you.

Ask your neighbor (Maddie's grandpa) to load it on the truck and take it...
